J. Davies Cabernet Sauvignon

'Dark perfumed aromas of boysenberry and plum combine with cocoa, vanilla cream, and tobacco. The palate is bold, complex and fruitful. Loganberry and black cherry mingle with Earl Grey tea and dark chocolate, and are seamlessly brought together with fine grain tannins that sustain a long and luxurious finish.'

- Sean Thompson ' Hugh Davies, Winemakers

Elegance and complexity with a deep dark berry structure characterize this serious Diamond Mountain hillside wine. While showing purity of fruit from this southernmost vineyard on Diamond Mountain, it's still remains softer than most hillside wines, which is a tribute to the special terroir here on the Schramsberg estate, and the capable hands of the winemakers. This Bordeaux blend of 86% Cabernet Sauvignon and14% Malbec was aged in 90% new and 10% used French oak barrels for 24 months. Additionally, this wonderful eleventh vintage has been provided 12 months in bottle to blend and mature even more gracefully. Estate grown here on the Schramsberg property, the wine has become a true expression of our Diamond Mountain hillside vineyards. 1,750 cases were produced, with magnums and three liters also available in limited quantities.

J. DAVIES Cabernet Sauvignon
Diamond Mountain District
"Made from essentially the same blend, the Cabernet Sauvignon is slightly more exotic with evolved aromas of white flowers, creme de cassis, licorice and graphite. This perfumed, medium to full-bodied wine possesses both power and elegance ... It should drink well for another 12-15 years."
