PIKES SHIRAZ 2002

Aroma: Fully ripened plummy, spicy Shiraz fruit with some blueberry and dark chocolate notes as well. These are all complimented nicely by a swirl of charry French oak somewhere in the mix. Displays a degree of opulence that we don't often see in a Clare Shiraz.

Palate: The palate is all ripe cherries, plums and spice with a core of dark chocolate running through the mid palate, while a hit of fine, dry tannins on the finish adds length and structure to the soft, plush fruit.

Summary: A richly flavoured wine that will be most attractive to Shiraz fans. No problem to drink this wine as a youngster, but as usual 4-7 years will see some evolution in the wine and repay those who care enough to stash some away in a cool, dark place.
