SAWTOOTH WINERY CHARDONNAY 2007

Not long ago, the thought of a well-crafted Chardonnay from Idaho seemed far-fetched. Here's another example to the contrary. This begins with summer savory spice, vanilla bean, almonds, orange peel and a touch of petrol. The flavors are of dried pineapple with a tart midpalate, followed by signs of oak and the smoothness of malolactic fermentation. It's wrapped up with a lemon meringue finish.
