Terra Blanca began as the vision of owner/winemaker Keith Pilgrim. While working as a geologist, Keith spent over ten years gathering information and tasting wines up and down the West Coast. After settling on the Red Mountain area Keith purchased 300 acres and began planting the vineyard in 1993. Between now and then, Keith has guided the winery and vineyard operation from rattlesnake-infested sagebrush to a pristine 80-acre vineyard and a winery that produces 20,000 cases per year.

Inspiration for the Terra Blanca Estate was formed early in Keith's life. As a child, growing up in Fairfield California, Keith frequented the Napa Valley on day trips with his parents. In the middle 1970's Napa was just becoming a center for wine production, like Washington State is today, and Keith was able to draw inspiration from both the individuals who created Napa and the landscape itself.

Having studied at University of California - Davis in geology, enology and viticulture, Keith continued to work towards building a winery throughout high school and college, gaining experience working in vineyard/orchard management positions and at a small winery near Fairfield. As a working geologist, Keith kept close ties with friends in the wine business and traveled the wine regions of the world.

As a winemaker Keith continues to experiment with new technologies and techniques while holding closely to the lessons of classic winemaking.
