Amavi Cellars Walla Walla Syrah.

At Amavi Cellars, we have chosen to focus on Syrah wines that showcase the extraordinary quality and unique concentrated fruit flavors of Pepper Bridge Vineyard and Seven Hills Vineyard, our Walla Walla Valley estate vineyards. Over the years, these estate vineyards have consistently produced grapes used by other Washington winemakers to produce Syrah wines of exceptional complexity, balance, and concentration. Ripe, round and generous, with pleasantly earthy grace notes to the cherry and spice flavors, finishing with a smoky edge. Needs time for the tannins to lose some grip. 708 cases made. (HS)

Bottle Size: .750

Located in the Walla Walla Valley, Amavi Cellars is small and family owned. We are dedicated caretakers of the land who craft elegant, approachable wines. We focus on estate-vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah, yet we do make small amounts of other varietals including Semillon and Rose. Our estate-vineyard wines begin with exceptional grapes, hand-harvested from our Les Collines, Seven Hills, and Pepper Bridge Vineyards. Our name is a combination of the Latin root words "am" (love) and "vi" (life). It represents our simple pursuits: love, life and wine (or as we like to say: amor - vita - vinum). We pronounce it "ahh muh vee." You can be certain you are saying it the way we do if it rhymes with "momma me." Our winemaker, Jean-Francois Pellet, is a third-generation winemaker and grape grower. He creates elegant, approachable wines with luscious, lingering finishes. Our estate vineyards (Seven Hills, Pepper Bridge and Les Collines) are among the best in the Valley. We are leaders in the practice and promotion of sustainable viticulture. On our label, Ceres (the Roman Goddess of Agriculture) symbolizes our commitment to not only perserving, but also improving the land for future generations. Our first vintage was in 2001, and the critics have been kind to us. Tasters from all over the country keep mentioning our wines as having terrific quality and spectacular value. Please come visit us! Our tasting room is a unique reconstruction of a turn-of-the-century log cabin that Partners Ray and Diana Goff saved from demolition. It serves as another example of our devotion to sustainability. Our tasting room manager Patty Lynch would be happy to share with you samples of our current releases. (Tasting fees may apply.)
