Delille Cellars D2. Complex nose of red currants, cedar, pencil lead, white meadow flowers, and mocha. The freshness and lift on the palate definitely represents the vintage, with red currants and mulberries supported by toffee and vanilla oak notes.

As to the reds, Delille's D2 is billed as the second wine of their Chaleur Estate blend and is comprised of 60% Merlot, 34% Cabernet Sauvignon, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot that spent 18 months in French oak. It displays classic aromas and flavors of black currants, wild herbs, plum sauce and Asian spice to go with a fleshy, full-bodied texture on the palate. Cellars was founded in the early nineties and is a reference point estate. The wines are made by Chris Upchurch, with help from Jason Gorski and Louis Skinner in the cellar. They've split up the brand into two different labels: Doyenne for all Rhone-styled blends, and Chaleur Estate for their Bordeaux blends and straight Cabernet Sauvignon releases.
